HAIL (Haringey Association for Independent Living) and Public Voice have come together in partnership to pilot a new Carers Support Service for Haringey, with funding and support from Haringey Council.
Carers in Haringey hold families together, enable loved ones to get the most out of life, and make an enormous contribution to society. Yet many are stretched to the limit – juggling care with work and family life, or even struggling with poor health themselves. This new service will identify those in need of support and advice, and we hope that it will have a positive impact on the lives of all cares in Haringey.
With an emphasis on identifying and supporting ‘hidden carers’, the pilot service will run to 31st March 2017, and will provide information, training, support and advice to carers about their rights, and services on offer to them locally.
Throughout the year, we will be working in community based settings, like, GP surgeries and Pharmacies or with other local community partners.
HAIL and Public Voice are also offering FREE training to carers in Haringey, including accredited training in First Aid and Manual Handling, as well as training in Stress Management, Drug and Alcohol Awareness, Effective Communication and much, much more.
The final element of the service is our Wellbeing Vouchers. This is a discretionary fund giving carers access to a voucher scheme which will allow them to purchase goods and services that promote wellbeing. This could be anything from holistic therapies to buying in extra support to enable the carer to attend appointments or social events.
